The family of Margaret Stewart regretfully announce her passing Wednesday, February 10,2010 at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex.
Born in and a lifetime resident of Reserve Mines, Marg was the daughter of the late James and Nan Dawson.
Marg was predeceased by her husband, Donald; brothers, Billy, Buddy, Jack and sister, Mary.
She is survived by daughters, Linda (Richard Harwood), Marnie, (Lorne) MacLeod and Dawn, (Paul) Mahoney. Her cherished grandchildren, Jarett and Mallory MacLeod, Matthew, Ian and Andrea Mahoney will miss their beloved ‘Mammy’. She is also survived by sisters, Betty Buckley, Dorothy (Frankie) Caume and brother, Jimmie (Velma) Dawson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a lifelong and active member of Gordon United Church. She was known for her sense of humour and quick wit. Her door was always open, the teapot always on and many enjoyed her warm hospitality and delicious baking. Marg enjoyed dancing and her card games at the pensioner’s hall.
Visitation will take place on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. in Gordon United Church, Reserve Mines with Martha MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Grand Lake Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gordon United Church, Palliative Care or to a charity of choice.
