Myles Ingraham
INGRAHAM, MYLES FENWICK - (April 26, 1929 - April 12, 2013) - It is with great sadness the family of Myles Fenwick Ingraham of Dumfries, NB announces his passing on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born in Bear Island, NB in 1929, Myles was the son of the late Harry and Emily (Williams) Ingraham. Myles, an avid worker, had been self employed for many decades in the woods, with a period working with the animals at Woolastook Wildlife Park, operating a Holstein dairy farm, as well as an antique shop, a shrub nursery and a woods operation with his family. He had a passion for gardening and in his later years was so proud to show off his greenhouse and vegetables to stoppers-by but his biggest joy was to share the fruits of his labour with neighbours and friends. Favourite pass-times during the 1970’s and 80’s were square dances and local card parties. With many dedicated years to St. Clement’s Anglican Church, in addition to regular Sunday services, he could be found assisting with auctions, yard sales and breakfasts as well as serving on vestry, as Parish Warden, and a choir member and enjoying the monthly Men’s Breakfasts. His community also found a special place which could be exemplified as he was one of the founding members of the Dumfries Volunteer Fire Department as well as actively involved with Dumfries Days. He was proud to have been recognized as a life member of both the York PC Association and PCNB. His love of Belgian draft horses was shown as he bred and exhibited them with some 40 plus years at the FREX and was a member of the New Brunswick Draft Horse Association. Gratefully, this love of horses and the old traditions such as par-buckle yards have been passed along to his grandchildren. Myles had a gentle spirit, often showing his appreciation for nature and those most special to him through verse and poems, some of which have been published. He so often could be found sitting with grand children, and later great grandchildren reciting poetry or song. One wouldn’t have completed a description of Myles without mention of his love of hunting and fishing and the buddies with whom he shared this special pass time. Myles is survived by Doris (Fraser), his loving wife of 60 years; two sons of Dumfries, NB, Fraser (Judy), and Donnie (Rebecca); sisters, Bertha Dunham, Prince William, NB and Bernice Hagerman, Bear Island, NB; sisters-in-law, Jean Ingraham, Dumfries, NB, Inez Ingraham, Upper Queensbury, NB, Dorothy Estey, Woodstock, NB and Hazel Franklin (Richard) Newport, Maine; five grandchildren: Tanya (Bliss) Hayward, Barony, Trevor (Emily) Ingraham, Emily, Peter and Brady Ingraham, Dumfries, NB; three great-grandsons Wyatt, Sydney and Samuel Hayward, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Myles was predeceased by brothers, Raymond and Wilford; a sister, Eileen; brothers-in-law Bud Dunham, William Hagerman and Gerald Estey.
Visiting hours will be held at St. Clement’s Anglican Church, 6831 Route 102, Dumfries, NB on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the church with The Rev. Fr. Kevin Borthwick and Rev. Fr. Bob Barry officiating. Private family interment at St. Clement’s Anglican Cemetery. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to make a donation in memory of Myles, the family has suggested the St. Clement’s Cemetery Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice. His family would like to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to EMH, Harvey Outreach, Dr. Hayter and the DECH staff on the 4th floor for their dedicated care and compassion for Myles.
