Edward Thomas "Tom" Eagles

EAGLES, EDWARD THOMAS "TOM" - Unexpectedly on Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Tom was received into the arms of Jesus, his personal Lord and Saviour. Born in Saint John on February 20, 1941, Tom was the son of Mrs. Margaret Janet (Ring) Eagles; he attended local schools before going to work fulltime at O'Keefe's in the City Market, at age 16. He later worked for O'Reilly's Market and completed his career in the grocery industry as a receiving clerk for Willett Fruit (later the Food Group) from 1969 to 1994. On October 8, 1988, Tom married Marion (Green) Chiasson and they moved into Tom's house in Rothesay - a home for which he worked very hard and of which he was so proud. Tom was predeceased by his mother; twin sister, Alice Zgaga and several aunts, uncles and cousins; he is survived by his wife; one daughter, Candida (Jason) Richard; two grandchildren, Britani and Benjamin, all of Riverview, NB; younger brother, Wayne of Saint John; one niece, Alana (Michael) of Toronto; one nephew, Allen of Prince George, BC; one aunt, Geraldine McEwen of Saint John; one special cousin, Frances (Peter) Thompson of Saint John; several other cousins and his beloved cat, Delilah. Tom's hobbies and interests included reading, watching movies and television especially American Idol and crime dramas, listening to country music and working crossword and circle-a-word puzzles. His "dancing" eyes and unique humour will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (849-2119), on Tuesday April 16, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM; the funeral service will take place at Rothesay Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 17, at 11:00 AM, with reception to follow immediately in the church foyer, after which Tom will be interred at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations may be made to the family's living memorial or to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, SPCA Animal Rescue League or the Curly Adams Fund. www.kennebecasisfh.com
