1941-2013
Audrey L. Mattix , 72 years of Amherst and formerly of Springhill, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of Doris and the late Everett Henwood.
In earlier years Audrey worked as a waitress in Halifax, Amherst, and at the Hilltop Restaurant in Springhill and later with Oxford Frozen Foods. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, the Springhill Legion Branch #17, and the Amherst Lioness Club. She was member of the Springhill Salvation Army where she attended Home League and was a Sunday School at one time.
She is survived by her Husband, Kenneth Mattix; mother, Doris Henwood;sons, Bernie (Ginni) Keizer and William (Brittani Snowdon) Mattix, daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Keizer Bolen; granddaughters, Montana and Cassidy, brothers, Charles (Brenda) Henwood, Gordon (Dauna) Henwood, , Frank (Judy) Henwood, Bernard (Debbie) Henwood, Gerald Henwood and Wayne Henwood; sisters, Marie Benjamin, Mary Carter, Annie (James) Crowe; best friend, Bev Sharpe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Family and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Monday, April 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 2 pm. Burial will take place in the West Brook Cemetery at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Audrey may do so to the Heart Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
