ROCH, Grete Margaret Marie – 92, of Nictaux, NS passed away on Friday, April 12, 2012 in the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, Middleton. Born in Ruma, Yugoslavia, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Wilhelm and Olga (Schrottner) Libisch. Grete trained as a teacher, taught school in Yugoslavia and played a large role in offering support to the operation of the family business in Montreal, Quebec. She was a never- ending source of encouragement to her entire family. Grete was intelligent, patient, kind, loving, her strength of character was matched only by her devotion to the natural world around her. She is survived by her children Fred (Anna) Roch, Nictaux and Heidi Walsh, Albany, NY; grandchildren Jason Roch, Nictaux; Saskia Roch, Halifax; Lucas (Kathleen) Roch, Nictaux; Valerie Walsh, California; Monica Whaley, Maine; Robbie Walsh, Massachusetts; Brendan Walsh, Albany, NY and great grandchildren Willow, Violet, Gus, Heidi, Harry and Finn. Grete is also survived by her beloved sisters Gerda Majeron, Austria and Hilde Kukula, New Jersey. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John (Hans) Frederick Roch and grandson Andrew Walsh. Grete was and will continue to be loved by us all. A light has gone out of our lives. Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass was held 11 a.m.Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church, Middleton. Rev. Gerald Saulnier and Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau officiated. A reception for family and friends followed the service. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Kingston. Donations in Grete’s memory may be made to the charity of choice.
