Johnson, Hazel Elizabeth (McRae) – 93, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2013 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro surrounded by her loving family. Born in Upper North River, she was the daughter of the late Stearns and Ester (Tattrie) Blackmore. Hazel worked at Stanfields Ltd. For 25 years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, puzzles, dancing and bowling. She is survived by sons (McRaes), Hollis (Gertrude), Brookside, Stearns (Anne), Alta., Carl (Eileen), Sterling (Amanda), both of Nuttby; daughter, Audrey Cavanaugh (William Hughes), Lower Onslow; stepsons (Johnsons), Glen (Margie), Brookfield, Warren, Upper Stewiacke; stepdaughters, Heather Johnson (Dale), Truro, Kathy (Ronald) Laffin, Upper Stewiacke, Barb (Donald) Watson, Upper Musquodoboit; sister, Florence Shearer, 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 15 great great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Lorraine, Annie Haughn. She was predeceased by her first husband, William McRae; second husband, Lester Johnson; her parents; daughter, Joyce; sisters, Blanche, Daisy, Addie, Freda, Gladys; brothers, Murray, Ernest; stepson, Peter Johnson. A visitation to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, April 18 from 7-9 pm with a memorial service on Friday, April 19 at 2:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Ian Harrison officiating. Family interment will take place in Blackmore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blackmore Cemetery or the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society.
