Lieu de décès : Sydney Mines, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Angus Harold Ings, Sydney Mines. Our sadness is lifted in knowing that through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, Angus has been received into the household of God. Angus was a faithful member of Trinity Anglican Church, serving on the vestry and enjoying fellowship in the Men’s Club. In his youth he was active in AYPA where he met his Kathleen. He coached minor hockey, was a scout master and served in the Reserve Army. One of Angus’s proudest moments was becoming an honorary member of the Sydney Mines Fire Department. He was also a member of Royal Oak Lodge #85 Masons.
Angus operated Goodwin Nurseries for 40 years. He was happiest when he was in his garden or greenhouses with his good friend Tommy Gardner. Angus had a special gift for making things grow, including friendships and was always at the ready with a good joke.
Angus is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Kathleen; sons, Bob (Sharon) and Bill (Margie Gillis); daughters, Kathy (Brian) O’Toole and Mary (Rev. Peter) Rafuse, and daughter-in-law Gayle Ings. Along with his children Angus is survived by Bill Burchell who always held a special place in his heart; sisters, Georgina Andrews and Goldie (John) Gunn; grandchildren, Joanne, Robyn, Trinity, Bryan, Matthew, Kaelyn, Jason, Faye and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Michael, Bonnie, Danielle, October, Porter and many nieces and nephews.
Angus was predeceased by his parents Alice and Joseph Ings, son David and granddaughter Arianne; sisters Mary Major and Martha; brothers Ernest, Johnny, Charlie and very special nephew Harold.
Visitation will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 6:45 p.m. A celebration of Angus’s life will take place at Trinity Anglican Church on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. with his son-in-law Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. A reception will follow in the Grandy Hall.
Donations in memory of Angus may be made to Trinity Anglican Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Cape Breton SPCA, 401 East Broadway, Sydney, N.S., B1P 6J1.
