Mary Catherine MacLean, 94, of Irish Vale, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Big Pond, Catherine was the daughter of the late Hughie and Flora (MacKinnon) MacLellan of Big Pond.
Catherine was a member of Sacred Heart parish, Johnstown, and the Parish CWL.
Catherine is survived by her son, Harvey (Lynn) MacLean, at home; and daughter, Greta (Gordon) Reid, Westmount; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Cash, Irish Cove, and Josephine MacLeod, Sydney; along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband, W.R. MacLean, her brother, Martin MacLellan, sisters, Mary John S. MacNeil, Margaret Campbell and Sadie Campbell.
Honouring Catherine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb.15 at Sacred Heart Church, Johnstown, with Fr. Joe Gillis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johnstown Cemetery Fund.
