We regret to announce the passing of Anthony Thurbide, 72, on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Florence on Oct. 30, 1940, he was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret (Getto) Thurbide. He was a member of Immaculate Conception parish, Sydney Mines.
Anthony was well known around town and participated every year in the Sydney Mines Christmas Parade. He worked for many years at Iannetti's Salvage Yard, and also fished with Greg Dugas.
He is survived by his brothers, Steven, Alder Point, Brian, Sydney Mines, Donald (Bev), Cole Harbour, Lawrence, Sydney Mines, Kevin, Sydney Mines and Alex, Red Lake, Ont. Also left to mourn are his sisters, Agnes Duplessie, Saint John, N.B., Barbara (Anthony) Degiobbi, South Haven, Bernice Gillis, Red Lake, Ont., Carlie MacNeil, Sydney Mines and Linda (Warren) Gillis, Millville.
Besides his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his brothers, Joe and Bennie.
The family would like to thank Sharon MacLeod and Marilyn LeDrew for the kindness shown to Anthony during his illness.
Visitation for Anthony Thurbide will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will be held in the Centennial Room, following the mass.
