
Gerald "Gerry" Martin
MARTIN, GERALD "GERRY" FRANCIS - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerald "Gerry" Francis Martin which occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Born in 1928 in Woodvale, PEI, he was the eldest son of the late Peter and Alma Martin and the husband of the late Lillian (Douglas) Martin, who passed away in 2006. Gerry was employed with CP Transport, with many Safe Driving Awards, retiring in 1993. He also worked with SMT in his earlier years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish for over 50 years. Gerry had a great love for cars, driving and computers. As well, he enjoyed the Saint John Sea Dogs and Flames hockey, watching old westerns on TV and church suppers. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends especially his son Francis (Terry Lee) Martin and granddaughter Elicia. He is also survived by three brothers: Reginald (Doris) Martin of Salisbury, NB, Wayne (Wendy) Martin of Peterborough, ON and Ronald (Valerie) Martin of Martinon; sisters-in-law Marion Larkin of St. Stephen and Ruth Douglas of Saint John; several nieces and nephews and special friend Catherine Hersey. He was predeceased by his brothers Ernest and Peter; sisters Phyllis Arsenault and Lorraine; sister-in-law Glenna Martin and brothers-in-law Andrew Arsenault and Francis Larkin.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Thursday, April 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 12 noon. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the Holy Trinity Building Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
