SPAGRUD – Shirley Anne Spagrud (Buck) passed away March 28, 2013 at the Gull Lake Special Care Home after a short bout of cancer. The funeral was held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Knox United Church with Carola Anderson and Reverend Bev Diduck officiating. Music for the service was provided by Millie Spagrud, Nora Rudolph and King Gin. The Eulogy was presented by Rocky Butts. The Ushers were cousins Darcy Kettner and Ron Jensen. The Pallbearers were Nephews Darren Buck, Kevin Buck, Shane Buck, Jason Buck, Tyler Dobranski and Jesse Hir. The Interment Service was held at the Gull Lake Community Cemetary. Shirley is survived by Husband Eldon, sons Rocky (Tammy) Butts, Perry Butts, Lonny (Lynnette) Butts, grandchildren Lane, Joel, Sierra and Brenlyn, sister Betty (Ron) Dobranski, brother Jim (Arlene) Buck, brother Bob (Dorothy) Buck, many nieces and nephews, stepsons Dallas (Pam) Spagrud, Garnet Spagrud, Randy (Arlene) Spagrud and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Herb (1997) and Verna (2007) Buck, brothers Lanny (1997) and Gary (2007) Buck and granddaughter Lonnette (2000). Shirley was born on August 10, 1936 and grew up on a farm south of Gull Lake. She attended Aldag School while on the farm but finished school in Gull Lake. She married Jack Butts and lived for a short time in Alberta before moving back to Gull Lake. They had 3 sons. She worked numerous places before finishing her career at the Gull Lake Credit Union where she retired in 1997. Shirley married Eldon Spagrud in 1997 and they enjoyed many trips together including Mexico, Branson and New York. She loved to knit and crochet and made many sweaters, afghans and ornaments. She helped many people with their unfinished projects. Her family was her life and she will be dearly missed. The family will be forever grateful to Dr. Clare Kozroski, the Homecare Staff and Special Care Home Staff for their care. In Shirley’s memory donations may be made to the Gull Lake Special Care Home Auxiliary, the Gull Lake Ambulance or own choice. Warren’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
