We, the family of the late Gordon Doucette, offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to family, friends and neighbours whose kindness and support brought us such comfort at the time of his death. He was and will forever be our beloved husband, Dad, grampie, uncle and friend.
Gordon’s life was celebrated at his requiem mass held on December 21st at St. Peter’s Parish Church in Ingonish Beach. Thank you to the many who shared their support and love at the visitation and funeral service. It was a beautiful tribute to Gordon’s life. Our thanks to the celebrant, Father Dan MacDonald, for his beautiful liturgy and warm and loving homily. Thank you to the members of the Department of Fisheries & Oceans for their impressive Honour Guard, and to the Veterans who honoured and saluted Gordon – he would be so proud! Thank you to the choir for their beautiful hymns, to the Eucharistic ministers - Pam and Tara, to the Readers - Linda and Heather, and to Shirley and Jocelyn for assisting in the selection of the liturgy. Special thanks to nephew, David Doucette, for his fiddle solo and to son-in-law, Robert O’Reilly, for his touching tribute to Gordon’s life. Thank you to the pallbearers – nephews David, Archie and Richard Doucette, cousin Bobby Doucette and neighbours Dave Buchanan and Barry Doyle. For the lovely reception following the memorial mass and the opportunity to share stories and fellowship with all those who came, many thanks to the ladies of St. Peter’s C.W.L. A special thanks to Eric McLean for helping us out in a tight spot. Many thanks to Annette and the staff at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home for their compassionate and professional guidance. To everyone who offered sympathy - calls, visits, gifts of food, the beautiful flowers, mass and sympathy cards, online condolences, charitable donations and prayers, we are forever grateful. These gestures of kindness pay fitting tribute to the life of Gordon Doucette and bring enormous comfort to all of us who loved him in life and who will cherish his memory forever.
