Crowe, Neil of Central Onslow, Col. Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Chappell Court, Truro, at the age of 99-years. Born in Onslow Mountain on June 25, 1913, he was the son of the late Charlton and Mary (Whidden) Crowe. He lived most of his life in Central Onslow, working at Wilsons Truck Body for 35 years as a carpenter until his retirement. He enjoyed working in his garden and freely gave much of it to family and friends. In earlier years he enjoyed camping and traveling.
He is survived by his son Ron (Iola) Crowe of Central Onslow; his daughter Mary (Bruce) Currie of Masstown; grandchildren Greg (Marion) Currie, Darrell (Margaret) Currie, Janet (Scott) Geldart, Randy (Kelly) Currie, Darren (Robyn) Crowe, Shelley (Charles) MacLellan; 9 great-grandchildren; 1-great-grandson; a very special pet Molly who resides with his son Ron; sister Jean King; sister-in-laws Pearl Wilson and Barbara MacBurnie; brother-in-law Calvin Peppard of Truro; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Neil was predeceased by his wife Marjorie (MacBurnie) of 65-years in 2004; brothers Earl and Charlton Crowe; sisters Myrtle McNutt, Ella MacQuarrie and three sisters in infancy.
No visitation by family request. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 27th at 2 pm in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Rev. Gerald Kerr will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Family flowers only. Donations in Neil’s memory may be made to the Belmont Cemetery or to a charity of choice.
