It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving father on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Donkin, Bert was the son of the late Parker and Cecelia (Ryan) Murrant. Bert was employed with Nova Scotia Power retiring after 22 years of service. He was a very generous man donating to various organizations such as Harvest House, Glace Bay Food Bank, SPCA, CNIB, Town House, to name a few. He enjoyed walking along the Dominion beach. Bert had a great sense of humour and loved to attend family gatherings.
Bert will be sadly missed by his children, Linda (Perry) McNeil, Halifax, Donnie (Cathy) Murrant, Glace Bay; cherished grandchildren, Kyla & Kelsie McNeil, Halifax; aunt and very close friend, Lyn Wadman and many friends.
Besides his parents, Bert was predeceased by a son, Parker; brothers, David, Daniel and a brother, in infancy.
The family are honouring Bert's wishes. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Church at a later date with interment at St. Anne's Cemetery.
