MacDonald, Roger J , 74, of Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2013, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, N.S. following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on Sept.10th, 1938, a son of the late Percy & Viola (Macumber) MacDonald. Roger is survived by his brothers Earl (Clara) of Hammonds Plains and Dale (Karen) of Windsor; nieces and nephews-Glenn, Heather, Scott, Phillip, Craig, Jennifer, Jason & Gillian and their families. He is also survived by many cousins and long-time family friend, Dewey Haley. As well as his parents, Roger was predeceased by his brothers Grant and Percy (in infancy). Roger was retired from the Dept.of Transportation in Halifax, travelling back and forth to the city every day for 35 years. A humble, quiet man Roger enjoyed CBC, his books, movies and travel and being with family. When younger he took pleasure in maintaining the beautiful gardens his mother had planted years before. Roger loved cats and for the last 10 yrs. “Mozart” was not far from his side. Roger will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family. Funeral Service was held at the Windsor Baptist Church, 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9th, 2013. A reception was held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to Palliative Care at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, N.S. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the QEII (7.3 Neurosurgery) and especially those on Units 200 & 500 at the Hants Community Hospital, for the gracious care they provided Roger over the last few months.
