STELLARTON – Rae Munro Campbell, age 74 of Stellar Street, Stellarton, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Frank and Edith (Fry) Campbell.
Rae spent his early years in Stellarton before moving to Halifax where he worked at Dalhousie University in the athletic dept. for a number of years. He then returned to Stellarton where he worked as a dispatcher until his retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. Rae enjoyed gardening and his cottage.
Surviving are his step-daughter, Tammy Hachey (Don), Truro; step-granddaughters Kailyn Hachey and Braidon Hachey, both of Truro; nieces and nephews: Brian (Heather) Campbell, Stellarton; Dwight (Susan) Campbell, Stellarton; Harvey (Michelle) Campbell, Little Harbour; Claire (Bob) MacFarlane, Springville; Lynn (Fred) Rockey, Stellarton; a number of great nieces and nephews. Rae will be fondly missed by his Carpenter family-in-laws.
He was predeceased by his wife the former Barbara Carpenter; a brother Kenneth Campbell; sister-in-law Anna Campbell.
A public memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. from the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, 18 Acadia Ave., Stellarton with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery. A reception will follow the service in the Stellarton Fire Hall.
Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Rae may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Society, the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
