Natalie Elizabeth Snell (nee Hegan)
Natalie Elizabeth Snell (née Hegan)
Passed away in the night on May 4, 2013 at home in Port Perry where she and her husband Robert Snell lived for the past 5 years. She will be missed greatly by her husband, daughters Shelley and Jillian, son-in-law Alex and grandson Evan. Born in Bass River, Nova Scotia in 1935, Natalie left us one week before her 78th birthday. Natalie was the daughter of Sadie and Roland Hegan; she is survived by her beloved sister Jean in Economy, NS and her brother Arthur in Victoria, BC and was sister to William, Glendeane and Donald, all deceased. Natalie spent her life as an RN, practicing in NS, BC and Ontario. She loved to care for people and ironically required a lot of care in her last years due to debilitating bone and joint disease. Many years ago, Natalie fell victim to osteoporosis and osteoarthritis which eventually became her undoing. She soldiered on for well over a decade despite the endless pain and maintained her dry sense of humour throughout. Natalie was a lover of music (especially old time fiddle music indigenous to her home province), cottage life, boating and animals and will be missed by her treasured terrier Bailey.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Natalie Snell will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, Ont. L9L 1A6 (905) 985-7331 on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the funeral home.
If preferred, memorial donations can be made to the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada http://www.colorectal-cancer.ca/en/hou-you-can-help/make-donation/ or the Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter 905-985-9547 or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
