It is with great sadness that we the family of Patrick Darrell Currie announce his sudden passing on Monday, May 6, 2013, in Calgary, Alta.
Born in North Sydney, on Nov. 2, 1958, he was the son of the late John and Christina (Gillis) Currie of MacAdams Lake.
Darrell served as a Cpl. in the military for 21 years as a member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, and later remustered to the Air Force as a refinisher. Upon retiring he drove tractor trailers, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed. Darrell retired in Stettler, Alta., where he liked living, as it reminded him of his childhood. He was a fan of all sports, played hockey and loved watching his New York Rangers.
He is survived by his loving companion, Sherry Morrison; his siblings, Jean (Roddie) Musgrave, Frenchvale, Martina Coffin, Sydney, Diane Currie, Montreal, Larry (Susan) Currie, Kingston, N.S., Carolyn (Ross MacDonald), Sydney, his twin, Darlene (Ed) Gilson, Ottawa, Elaine (Sheldon) Mikkelsen, Mira Gut; sister in-law, Margaret Ellen Currie, MacAdams Lake; and brother-in-law, Frank MacEachern, Sydney, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, life-time friend Johnny MacKinnon and all members of Sherry’s family.
Besides his parents Darrell was predeceased by brothers, John Patrick in infancy and John Alexander, nieces, Kimberly, Jennifer, nephew, Blaise and brother in-law, Carmen Coffin.
In honoring Darrell’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish, East Bay.
