The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Thursday, July 17, 2008, of Billy Evans of North Rustico, age 69 years. Billy was the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Gallant); loving father of Jimmy, Toronto; Danny, Charlottetown; Jeff (Shirley), Vancouver and Donnie, Toronto; and grandfather of Melissa. He is survived by his sisters, Lyda, Charlottetown and Betty (Don) McTague, Fort Augustus; brothers, Richard, Toronto, Lloyd (Linda), Mt. Herbert, and Percy (Anna), Toronto; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold (Janet) Gallant, Audrey (James) Gallant and Delma (Dale) Whitlock, all of North Rustico; and aunt, Lily Fairweather, Ottawa. Billy was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Margaret Evans. Resting at the McNeill Room of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, for visitation on Sunday, July 20, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, July 21, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Due to severe allergies, please refrain from wearing scented products. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Billy's memory to the Cancer Treatment Centre of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital would be appreciated.
