Myrtle Phyllis Kelly (MacKay), age 84 of Halifax, passed away May 19, 2013, at the QEII palliative care.
Born in Stellarton, NS, March 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William and Kathleen (Moss) MacKay.
Myrtle was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who devoted herself to family. She spent her early years working in office environments and later working and managing in retail. She was a life time member of the Catholic Women’s League. She spent many years bowling on women’s and mixed bowling teams.
Survived by her husband Ronald Gordon; daughters Wendy (Allan) Johnson, Patricia (Chris) Power; sons David (Mary Sherlock), Kevin (Anne Marie Margetts), and Gregory; sister Joan (David) Fraser; brother Ernest MacKay as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by daughter Mary; sons Michael, Bruce; brothers: Billy, Richard, Dennis; sisters Ruth Woodworth, Shirley MacKay.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 23, in JA Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Dr. from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Agnes Parish, Friday, May 24 at 2 p.m., reception to follow at the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, or Palliative Care at the QEII.
