Sheehy, Ellis C. “Etch”, age 83, of Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, May 21st, 2013, at Haliburton Place, Windsor. Born on January 10th, 1930, in Noel, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Basil and Iva (Miller) Sheehy and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Etch was formerly employed at the old Windsor Supply Company Ltd., and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He was Past President of the Windsor Schooners Hockey Club, a hockey referee for 23 years, covering Minor to Senior hockey levels and was a member of the Windsor Hockey Hall of Fame as a Builder/Player/and Referee. He had also played for the Windsor Royals Juvenile Ball Team, past member of the Windsor Curling Club, an devoted Detroit Red Wings fan, and an avid golfer. He was an honorary member of the Windsor Lions Club, where he served as President and Past President. Etch especially enjoyed his mornings at Tim Hortons with friends, the Sunday morning family visits, fishing at Sunken Lake and camping with family. Etch is survived by sons, Steve (Trudy) Sheehy, Michael “Mike” (Kathy) Sheehy, and David “Homer” (Linda) Sheehy, all of Windsor; daughters, Beth (Robert) Sanford, Mount Denson; Nancy (Jeff) Bezanson, Windsor; Sue Sheehy (Garey Pridham), Windsor; son-in-law, Greg Jessop, Windsor; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gladys Jodrey and Rachel Sheehy; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, the former Anne Marie Dill (2013); daughter, Rose Jessop (2008); brothers, Foster “Pod” Sheehy; Ronald Sheehy; and Dr. Gerry Sheehy; sister, Marjorie Kressner. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the staff at Haliburton Place for the kindness and love shown to our Father. “Thank You”. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 25th, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor (902-798-2232). Funeral service was 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26th, 2013, in the Windsor United Church, 613 King Street. The Rev. Bill Gibson officiated followed by a private family committal will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A reception was held in the Windsor United Church Annex. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Etch were requested to be made to Haliburton Place (89 Payzant Drive, Windsor – B0N 2T0) or to a charity of one’s choice.
