Norman Tracy
TRACY, NORMAN - It is with deep sadness and regret that the family of Norman (Punk) Levi Tracy and the Veteran's Health Unit announce the passing of another brave soldier on May 26, 2013. Norman passed away at the VHU with his loving family and the loving, caring staff at his side. Norman had been a resident of the VHU for more than two years and loved the tremendous care and attention he received from the staff. The family can never thank them enough for the wonderful care Norman received there. He loved his nurses and each and every one of the staff. They gave his life meaning and made sure he had some fun, and helped him maintain his dignity in his final hours. Norman was born in Tracy on May 23, 1920 and was the son of the late Lloyd Tracy and Hazel (Phillips) Tracy. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Thelma Faye (Phillips) Tracy. Norman lived most of his life in Tracy, but also lived in Saint John for a number of years where he was employed for over 40 years by the CPR. As a young man, Norman joined the army and served his country in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. The war was something that Norman never forgot but was unable to talk about. His only comment was that a lot of his good friends had never come home with him. Norman was a proud veteran, and never missed a Remembrance Day service. Norman was a member of the Tracy United Baptist Church, the 65 Club, and was one of the founding members of the Gladstone Legion Branch 55, in Fredericton Junction, NB. Norman was a great community man and loved his Tuesday night card parties at the Tracy Rec Centre. He was an avid sportsman and loved fishing, hunting, and playing ball. He loved watching ball and hockey on TV, but preferred watching his son and grandson playing softball. Norman loved his family beyond all else and spent a lot of time watching his kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren growing up. Norman is survived by his son, Lindsay (Sandra) of Tracy; his daughter, Paulette Morton (Bob) of Rothesay; stepdaughter, Frances MacDonald (Bertram) of Woodstock; grandchildren, Valerie Cobham (Max Wilson), Robert Cobham, Jody Brien (Tara), Stacey Tracy Gosling (Richard), and Jeremy Tracy (Roxanne); step-grandchildren, Tim (Leona) Dewitt, David Dewitt (Sandra), Wendy Giberson (Ken) and Debbie Smith (Bruce); great-grandchildren, Amanda Kaye, Jared Cobham, Brooke, Sierra and Nevaeh Tracy, Charlie and Patrick Gosling, Alex Cobham, and Halle Brien; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind sisters, Lucille Reid, Jeannette Tracy, and Bonita Waugh (Fraser); brothers, Roger (Eloise) and Bliss (Sharon) Tracy; sister-in-law, Renna Tracy; and brothers-in-law, Max Phillips and Trevor Mersereau. Besides his wife and parents, Norman was predeceased by a brother, Keith Tracy; sisters, Eileen Phillips and Verna Tracy; step-mother, Josephine Tracy; brother-in-law, Rod Reid; and special friend, Enid Tracy.
