Date de naissance : 1er avril 1921
Date de décès : 26 mai 2013
With broken hearts we announce the passing of Frances Anne MacDonald on May 26, 2013 at home surrounded by family after a brief illness.
Born in Big Intervale, Cape Breton, on April 1, 1921, Frances was the daughter of the late Roderick and Rachel (Ross) MacKay.
Most of Frances life was spent in Margaree except for a few years when she and her husband, Donald, lived in Brooklyn, N.S., where he worked at the fish hatchery. A loving, caring and generous person, Frances was sustained by her Christian faith and was a long-time member of the United Church and a life member of Big Intervale United Church Women. For many years she was the organist at Big Intervale Church. Her caring showed in the many people that boarded at their home, whether for school or work. She was also a founding member of N.E. Margaree Senior Citizens Group. She enjoyed immensely her bed and breakfast for many years, as she was such a people person. Her other passions were knitting, quilting, crocheting and travel. Her weekly card games with her friends were a key part of her life. Family and friends often delighted in her accounts of the history of Margaree people and beyond.
Frances is survived by her son, Lorne (Cheryl), Margaree Center; grandchildren, Melanie (Chris) Graten, Christena (Alex) Green and Jillian (Tony) Bonang; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Jamie, Leela and Seth; also, foster son, Donnie MacKinnon; grandchildren, Philip, Joanna, Matthew, (Marlene) Alisha, and Karley (Delores). She is also survived by sister-in-law, Jean MacDonald Burns, MA and several nieces and nephews that were so fond of Frances.
Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband, Donald in 1984; brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Mae MacKay; sister and brother-in-law, Hughena and Wetmore Ingraham; in-laws, Gordon and Susan (Ross) MacDonald, Peggy and Bill Dyson, Martha and Ross MacKinnon, Bob Burns, Ross and Rachel MacDonald and nephews, Sheldon and Graham MacKay.
