The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, of Amelia Mary Gallant (nee Bodechon) of Slemon Park and formerly of Kensington, aged 88 years. Amelia was born on Dec. 11, 1924, in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, N.S., to her late parents Louie and Victoria (nee Debell) Bodechon. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Gallant and loving mother of Sally Cannon of Minto, N.B., Victoria (Bobby) Walsh of Kensington, Marcie (Wayne) Mathews of Kelvin Grove, Juliet (Arnold) Miscich of Minto, N.B., Ralph Jr. of Slemon Park, Lorinda (Jimmy) Bonnell of Summerside, Kathy (Bruce) Hogan of Chipman, N.B., Colleen (Darrell) MacLean of Emerald, Darlene (Joseph) Gallant of Summerside, Janet (Chris) Keough of Kensington, Stephen of Kensington, Lisa (Lawrence) Jenkins of Slemon Park and Janet (Jon) Ramsay of Springfield. Also lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law Debbie Danault of Hamilton, ON., her 35 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Amelia was predeceased by her son Louis, her daughter Irene (Vernon) Betts, her son-in-law Junior Cannon, her daughter-in-law Donna Gallant and 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Friday, May 31, then to St. Anthony’s Church, Bloomfield, for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Amelia’s memory to the P.E.I. Lung Association or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
