It is with extreme sadness that we, the family of Heather Marie Plumridge, Kennedy Avenue, Sydney, announce her peaceful passing on Friday, May 31, 2013, in the An Cala unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her loving daughter by her side.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Cordella ‘Cuddles’ Donovan.
Heather was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Sydney. In 1988, she retired from Household Finance, where she was employed for 30 years. Heather loved cheering for her favourite team, The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, as well as her dogs, Nacho, Waffles and her special boy, Hendrix, who we referred to as “the favourite.”
Surviving are her daughter, Shelly MacMillan and grandchildren, Nicole and Matt, at home; sister, Charlene ‘Arlie’ (Fred) Myatt, Sydney; several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Shauna (Phillip) Anthony and Cathy Plumridge, who were so helpful during her journey. Heather will be missed by her “adopted daughters”, Darlene, Annette, Heather and Marina (Brian), who she loved as her own and who sat tirelessly by her side. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Norma, George and Marilyn, Fred and Sandra, Jack and Erika Plumridge.
Heather was predeceased by her husband, Tom; son-in-law, Steve MacMillan and brothers-in-law, Charlie and Eddy Plumridge.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and volunteers of the An Cala unit for the exceptional care of an extremely special lady.
As per her request, a graveside service will be held at a later date.
