James G. 'Jimmy' Hollohan
Lieu de naissance : Toronto, Canada
Date de naissance : 5 novembre 1952
Lieu de décès : Howie Centre, Canada
Date de décès : 1er juin 2013
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of James ‘Jimmy’ G. Hollohan on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
Jimmy was the eldest son of James B. and Eva (Nichols) Hollohan and big brother to Dawn and Bill (Geraldine) Hollohan.
Born in Toronto, on Nov. 5, 1952, Jimmy was in his 60th year.
He will be profoundly missed by his one true love and wife of 37 years, Janice (Dowie). He was so very proud of their two children, Janel and husband Derrick MacCormick and James and wife Lindsey. Jimmy’s undying spirit will rise again in his grandchildren, Rita, Rory, Calum, Ruby and Eva, all of whom he loved beyond earthly measure. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Theresa Dowie; sisters-in-law, Rita (Cyril) MacQueen, Annette (Michael) Erickson; and brothers-in-law, Sandy (Paula), Danny (Thelma) Dowie and Lowell Crowe. Also left to mourn are many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces, relationships he treasured.
Jimmy was predeceased by his father, Jim Hollohan, his father-in-law, Alex Dowie, sister-in-law, Marie Crowe and brother-in-law, Tim Sutherland.
I suspect that they will welcome Jimmy to their tarabish table.
Jimmy was blessed with and nurtured great friendships throughout his life, far too many to mention here. You all know who you are and like us, your pain is great. For those of us who were fortunate to have shared some time with Jimmy, life will never be the same, and joy will be forever tempered by his loss. However, we will find joy because he would have it no other way. Jimmy was one of those rare people who could find his house swept away by a hurricane and be excited about the beautiful foundation left behind and all the wonderful things he was going to do with it. Jimmy’s cup, however empty, was always soon to be replenished.
Jimmy spent more than 30 years working for NSP and did his job with a commitment to always do his best and this commitment could be found in everything he tackled. No job was too big for him, he just broke them down into workable chunks. Whatever needed to be done, he attacked with strength and vigor. Jimmy was his father’s pride and joy and his greatest pupil.
Jimmy loved golf, darts, horseshoes, and anything that moved on land or sea, music and great company. He especially loved summers at the bungalow in Ben Eoin. The common thread for Jimmy was that these activities involved time with family and friends. That is what he treasured the very most. To everything that he did and every person he loved he gave a little piece of his heart. He gave so much of his heart to others, he did not save enough for himself.
Visitation will be held at the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, and the funeral mass will be at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Thursday, June 6, at 11 am.
