Passed peacefully away at the Miller Centre on June 6, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer, Janet Power (Smith), of Chapel Arm, at the age of 70 years. Predeceased by her parents, Janet and James Smith, brothers: Arthur and Wilbur, sister: Pheobe Power. Leaving to mourn her husband and best friend of 52 years, Andy; daughter Adele Smith (Garry); three sons: Andy Jr. (Carolyn), Stephen, Patrick (Colleen); sister Pearl Warren (Merrill) and sisters-in-law: Berdina Smith and Vera Smith. Leaving with treasured memories are her 12 grandchildren and 5 loving great-grandchildren as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Special lifelong friends: Betty and Len Coughlan of St. John’s, Don and Effie O’Driscoll of Halifax and their many special friends at Placentia Junction. At Janet’s request cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne. Visitation, Saturday and Sunday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9. Funeral, Sacred Heart Church, Chapel Arm at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 10. Inurnment Roman Catholic Cemetery, Long Hr. Road. No flowers by request. Donations in Janet’s memory may be made to the Vera Perlin Society.
