Abraham Peck

Date de naissance : 25 janvier 1956

Lieu de décès : Baddeck
Date de décès : 6 juin 2013

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, nephew and great friend to all, Abraham Francis Peck of Wagmatcook First Nation.
Abraham passed away peacefully in the early hours of June 6, 2013, surrounded by his family and friends, after a year-long battle with cancer at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck.
Born in Baddeck on Jan. 25, 1956, he was the son of Benjamin Peck Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Francis) Peck. Abraham was a member of the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Parish, Wagmatcook.
Abraham loved playing TV bingo. Nothing would prevent him from playing, even when he was in the hospital or not feeling all that good. His all time favourite artist was Elvis Presley and he gathered numerous Elvis memorabilia. His next favourite music band would be The Beatles. He would challenge his friends to cribbage, rummy and any card games and was a champ at that. Abraham played pool whenever he had a chance.
He was previously employed by the Wagmatcook band council as a carpenter and fisherman. He was also employed as a woodcutter for Brian Arbuthnot (Wagmatcook senior adviser) years ago and that is when he began a close friendship with him and he always reminded us all of that.
Abraham loved his children and grandchildren with all of his heart, constantly speaking of them and was happy whenever they were there to visit. His very good friend from childhood (Robert Simon) would always be there for him as Abe would be there for him as well in return.
Abe was very appreciative of everything his friends and family would do for him and loved being surrounded by friends. He was a very social person and happy at all times. He would always greet you with that beautiful smile.
Abraham is going to be greatly missed.
Abraham is survived by two daughters, Christal Peck (Todd), Wagmatcook, Breanna Cabot, Eskasoni; son, Aaron Marshall, Eskasoni; grandchildren, Justine, Deanna and Ryan, Wagmatcook; brothers, Leonard, Eugene, Anthony, Roger, Ben, Calvin and Lester (Ann), all of Wagmatcook; sister, Jane Elizabeth, Wagmatcook; aunt, Jean Peck, Eskasoni; godchild, Janice Peck, Wagmatcook; plenty of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his great friend/caregiver, Barbara Wray, Baddeck, who would drive him to his chemo treatments, doctors appointments, etc.
He was predeceased by maternal grandmother, Annie C. Pierro, paternal grandparents, Mary Susan Isadore and Abraham Peck, Eskasoni, sisters, Martha and Sandra, brothers, Gregory and Cyril, godchild/nephew, Cyrus, nephews, Joshua and Nilan, nieces, Elizabeth Ann, Cyndi Joy, Vanessa, (twins) Angelina and Angelica.
The wake will begin Sunday, June 9, 2013, after 5 p.m. at the Ben Peck residence, 6 Church Loop Rd., Wagmatcook. Funeral will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Blessed Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, Queen of the World Church, Wagmatcook, with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial to follow at Queen of The World Cemetery.
We, the Peck family, would like to thank Molly Pierro for coming to the hospital for the prayers and Kim Denny for doing the memorial cards, Norman Bernard for all he had done. Thank you to Audrey Pierro and her family for being there for us and catering. Also a big thank you to all the nurses and Dr. Chow of the VCMH, we appreciate all you have done for Abe.
