Muriel Ruth 94 years - It is with sadness we announce the home going of our mother on Sunday, July 27, 2008, in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late William and Carrie (Hannah) Clarke. Muriel was a telephone operator in Springhill prior to her marriage and later was employed as a clerk in her brother’s store, D.E. Clarke, for many years. She was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, serving her church with the Willing Workers and was a life member of the Baptist Missionary Society. Muriel, along with her husband Alex, were members of the Springhill Senior Citizens for many years. Her pastime was knitting and crocheting and continued doing this well into her 80s. Muriel was a homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by a son, Rick (Janice) MacLeod of North Rustico, P.E.I.; daughters, Lorna (Don) Stubbert of Cameron’s Beach, Port Howe, N.S.; and Cathy (Bud) Anderson of Springhill; brother Denleigh Clarke of Truro; grandchildren Marlene, Diane, Jeff, Rob, Amanda, Alexis, Woody, Matthew, Kerri, Ryan, Tim and Kelsey; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander MacLeod; brothers Lester, Elton and Kenneth; sisters Mildred, Grace, Hattie and Helen. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, followed immediately at 4 p.m. by the funeral service, both held in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. If so desired, donations to the Springhill Baptist Church or charity of choice would be appreciated.
