The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, of Bernadette Margaret Gallant (nee Pineau) of Summerside, aged 84 years. Bernadette was born on January 31, 1924 in Hope River, P.E.I., to her late parents Peter and Rosella (nee Arsenault) Pineau. Beloved wife of the late Edmund Gallant and loving mother of Debbie Gallant (Ken Miller) of Stratford, Monica (Terry) Smith of Kingston, N.S., Fred (Jo) of Summerside, Patrick (Kathy) of Summerside, Robert (Dianne) of Wellington and her daughter-in-law Debra Gallant of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by her sister, Cynthia (Sandy) Duff of Ottawa, Ont., her brothers, Ivan (Leona) Pineau, Vernon (Marion) Pineau, Eugene Pineau all of Summerside, Ronnie (Marie) Pineau of Slemon Park, Earl (Ricky) Pineau of Summerside and Doug Pineau of Moncton, N.B., and her brothers-in-law, Phil Malone of Summerside and Greg Buteau of Belleville, Ont. Besides her husband and her parents, Bernadette was predeceased by her son, Michael, her sisters, Evelyn (Alfred) Burke, Theresa Malone and Clarice Buteau. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Friday, August 1, 2008, for funeral mass at St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery.
