It is with great sadness the family of SUSIE JANE BOWEN announce her passing on June 7th, 2013. She died at her home in Jefferson Pines, in the Annapolis Valley, a place she loved for 38 years. Born in Winter Brook NL on the 16th of Dec. 1941, she was the second of five children born to the late Manuel and Ada (Wells) Butt. Susie was a proud and respected nurse. She began her career in St Johns NL and extended it across Canada, finishing her career at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, NS. Susie had two spiritual places, one was her flower gardens, which she tended with loving care, the other was her Grandmother Wells` home in a little cove in Jamestown, NL. Susie spent her summers sailing the south shore of NS with Eli. The many evenings spent with friends at the yacht club in LaHave with a glass of wine or two were always very special. She also enjoyed traveling and took advantage of Eli’s Air Force postings to experience with Eli some of what the world had to offer, from the beaches of Southern France to the wine country of Northern California. Susie is survived by her husband Eli; daughter Annette (David), Moshers Corner; son James (Pamela), Fredericton. She was Nanny to Justin (Ramey), Ashley, Keegan, Thomas, Seamus (Allie), and Lucas; She was Great-Grand mom to Spencer; Also survived by her sisters Betty and Effie, and her brother Gary, along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Barbara. Nanny B was extremely proud of her family and all their accomplishments. A memorial service was held at Holy Trinity Anglican church, Middleton, NS at 11 AM, June 11th with Rev. Matthew Sponagle officiating assisted by Rev. Mike McKeage. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). Interment will take place at a later date in the Anglican cemetery, Winter Brook, NL. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448.
