Crossley, Jean Levina, 89, of Gladys Manning Retirement Community, Windsor, formerly of Lawrence Road, Mantua, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2013 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor with her loved ones by her side. Born on September 12, 1923 in Mantua, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late, Martin and Jennie (Knowles) Greeno. Jean resided in her family home from her birth until 2011. She was a member of the Newport United Church in Brooklyn, and honorary member of the Newport Jolly Seniors Group, a life member of the Newport Jolly Seniors Bowling Group and Jolly Seniors Square Dancers. Jean was a homemaker who loved cooking, sewing and gardening. She enjoyed hosting card games, bingo and entertaining in her home. Jean enjoyed family trips by air across Canada and into the states especially Florida. Jean liked camping and day trips. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her son, Ronald of Halifax, and his companion, Edgar Hounsell; also several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Murray Albro Crossley (2010); brothers, Burpee Martin Greeno, and Lewis Henry Greeno; sisters-in-law, Clara Greeno and Lois Greeno. There will be no visitation by request. Memorial service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor. Rev. Garnet Parker officiated. Interment was in the Riverview Haven Cemetery, Union Corner. Family flowers only. Donations in Jean’s memory were requested to be made to the Newport United Church, Brooklyn; Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Riverview Haven Cemetery Fund.
