Date de naissance : 23 juillet 1944

Date de décès : 9 juin 2013

HURLBURT, Gerald Leigh – 68, Yarmouth, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, with his family at his side. Born July 23, 1944 in Centerville, Cape Sable Island, he was a son of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Ross) Hurlburt. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver, having worked many years with R. Hurlburt Construction, Yarmouth, and having also worked as a lobster fisherman. Gerald was an avid hunter and he loved bass fishing. He will be remembered for many things, but especially for his love of cars, his gift of wheeling-and-dealing, but also for being a practical joker with a wonderful sense of humor and his ability to tell a great story. Gerald couldn’t go see a good comedy without taking his niece Shelley with him, even at the risk of possibly getting kicked-out of the theatre. He enjoyed the company of friends and family, especially the gang with whom he shared coffee at McDonalds every afternoon. Gerald leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Sandra (Nickerson) Hurlburt, as well as their children, Dawn Hurlburt (Robbie), Short Beach; Barry (Kelly) Hurlburt, Shannon Hurlburt, both of Yarmouth; Candice (Scott) Muise, Hubbard’s Point; grandchildren, Jade, Luke, Gabby, Hunter and Logan; great grandchildren, Kiya, Kayson and Kaysha. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Patricia Baker, South Ohio; Richard (Nancy) Hurlburt, Hebron; Gary Hurlburt (Teresa), Melbourne; Cathy Hurlburt (John), Calgary, as well as several very special nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Hurlburt, and he will also share eternal rest with his best friend, Kelo. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth, where the funeral was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 12, Rev. A. D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Cremation followed and interment took place in the Carleton Cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
