It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, Jason McNeil on Sunday, June 9, 2013, in Calgary.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of Cathy (McNeil) Swan, Coxheath, and Mel (Patsy) Gillis, Lingan.
He was employed as an industrial relation officer in Calgary for Ganotec West. He was a proud member of the United Association of the Plumbers and Pipefitters. A former member of UA Local 682 and presently Local 488 in Edmonton.
Jason was a friend to everyone and he would lend a hand to anyone in need.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his two sisters, Lillianna and Briar (Jonothan); niece, Myla; stepson, Tyler Coffin; grandparents, Charles ‘Pee Wee’ and Shirley (Nicholson) Gillis; aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his stepdad, John Swan, who played a large part in his upbringing.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Wilfred and Anna (Murrant) McNeil.
Jason was a huge animal lover, therefore in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Two Rivers Wildlife Park.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, 2013, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013, in the funeral home chapel. Interment to take place at a later date.
