Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, June 20, 2013, Gwen Oates, floral designer/business woman of Carbonear. Predeceased by parents: Frederick and Tamar Horwood. Leaving to mourn, husband:Carl; brothers: Gary (Pauline) Horwood and Eric (Catherine) Horwood; sister-in-law: Barbara (Tom) Sullivan; nieces: Krista, Kimberley, Erica, Andrea, Heather; nephew: Shane; and grandniece: Hailey; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles and cousins. The family wishes to express its deepest thanks to the health professionals who treated and nursed her through her sixteen year medical ordeal and to all her friends and survivors who faced the journey with her. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel’s Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Sunday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church, Carbonear. Inurnment in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Carbonear.
