Richard Brent Laffin
Richard Brent Laffin, 67, of Black Brook, Pictou County, and formerly of Trenton, passed away as a result of a tragic ATV accident on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his beloved camp. Richard was born in Halifax to the late Earl Laffin and Pauline (Martell) Laffin on June 23, 1945. Richard was a great Dad, Grampy, brother, uncle and friend. There was nothing more important to Richard than his children and grandchildren, they were his life and he loved them just as much as they loved him.
He was a retired welding technician at Trenton Works. Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time at his camp at Black Brook. He was a great cook and loved to celebrate many holidays at his camp with his family. He was a great friend to many people and shall be missed by all of them.
Richard is survived by his children: daughter, Vicki; sons: Ricky (Julie) and Joey (Shauna) Campbell, all of Trenton; his grandchildren: Reagan, Emma, Raya, Taylor, Devon, Ashley, Baillie, Renee, Eric and Cayden; sisters: Linda (Robert Dougherty), Milton Ont.; Paula (Bill Richards), Trenton; Carolyn Hmiel (Dan Cunningham), Pictou Landing; Cindy (Mike MacKenzie), Trenton; brothers: Reg (Carol); Ron, both of Trenton; many step-brothers, step-sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins; chosen brothers: Bruce Avery; Donnie Byrne and Don Marsh. Richard was also predeceased by his step-mother Ann Laffin and his former wife Marion (Gerrior) Laffin.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, High St., Trenton. The family will have a celebration of Richard’s life at the Trenton Legion, Branch 29, on Wednesday, June 26 at 3 p.m.
