MacDONALD, RUTH MARIE - 1936-2013 - The death of Ruth Marie MacDonald, 77, of Sackville and formerly of Dorchester, occurred suddenly on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Saint John, Ruth was the only daughter of the late William and Edith (McDonald) Grant. Ruth was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Sackville and a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She had obtained a rank of Sergeant while she was a member of the 8th Canadian Hussars, C Squadron, Sackville, having also received her CD. She enjoyed darts and was a member of the Sackville Senior's Club. When she lived in Dorchester she enjoyed spending time in her garden and decorating for Christmas. She was very proud of her grandchildren's accomplishments and loved the time she spent with her family and friends. Ruth will be sadly missed by three sons, Grant (Debbie) of Dorchester, NB, Harold of Wapske, NB and Arthur (Bev) of Riverview, NB; two daughters, Debbie (Richard) Ward of British Settlement, NB and Susan MacDonald of Dorchester, NB; nine grandchildren, Rick, Jim, Selena, Alana, Jamie, Matthew, Amber, Madison and Sierra; five great-grandchildren; as well as two nieces; and a sister-in-law. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Grant MacDonald in 1991.
Arrangements for Ruth are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300), from where visitation will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 and Thursday, June 27 from 12:00 pm until the time of the funeral at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow. Reverend Vernon Vickruck officiating. Sackville Branch #26 of the Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
