It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Evelyn Miller (nee Curtis) while surrounded by her loving family, at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by her parents Paul and Cassie Curtis; brothers: Gordon, Wilson and Pearce; daughter Ruth (1967); and her daughter-in-law Lorraine (2009). Left to cherish loving memories in their hearts are her husband Ronald; six sons: Gerald (Joyce), Paul, Heber (Diane), Ernest (Rose), Roy (Susan) and Derek (Janet); fourteen grandchildren whom she adored: Darrell (his mother Mildred), Jennifer, Michelle, Krista, Stephen, Robbie, Kayla, David, Andrew, Colin, Robyn, Jessica, Jared and Noah; two great-grandchildren: Caleb and Charlotte; one step-granddaughter Sonya (and her children Emily and Kenny); also leaving to mourn, five sisters: Maggie, Ethel, Esther, Gloria and Pearl; two brothers: Wallace and Paul; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Monday, June 24, from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm, and on Tuesday, June 25, from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service will take place from the Salvation Army Citadel, Adams Avenue in St. John’s, on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 2:00 pm, with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road.
