It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Patricia Marie ‘Patsy’ Routledge, age 69 of International Street, Glace Bay, announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, sister and aunt after a long battle with lung cancer on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Henry ‘Fuff’ and Sally (O’Handley) Marsh.
Patsy was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay. She was employed at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay as a cook. Patsy loved playing cards, baking and spending her summers on the Mira. She passed this legacy on to her children and grandchildren who also enjoy going to, 'The Country'. She will be remembered as a very generous and courageous lady who loved her family and grandchildren. Patsy also had a great sense of humour and a hardy laugh.
She is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Gary) Fraser, Glace Bay; three sons, Michael (Tanya), Dominion, John (Starlene), Calgary, Raymond (Darlene), Glace Bay; three sisters, Jeannie Marsh (Wayne), Glace Bay, Lorene MacDonald, Glace Bay, Myrna MacIsaac, P.E.I. and one brother, Henry Marsh, Glace Bay.
Patsy is also survived by her six grandchildren, Amanda, Mark, Raylyn, Trysten, Amber and Jacob.
Patsy was predeceased by her husband, John Walter ‘Sonny’ Routledge; two brothers, David and Malcolm Marsh and a sister, Roseanne.
Visitation is Sunday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee is Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception in the church hall. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date in the parish cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Patsy, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Cape Breton Palliative Care.

The family would like to extend heart felt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at both the Glace Bay and Regional Hospital.
