New Glasgow - Mary Cecila Fraser, of 1 Highland Dr., New Glasgow, NS, passed away in her 87 th year on Friday, July 5, 2013 at home Born in Cape Auguet, Cape Breton on December 8, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Alvina (Landry) DeCoste. Also known as Anita or Nita, she came to New Glasgow at an early age and was employed at the McGregor Mattress Co. and then worked as a housekeeper. On October 9, 1947 she married James Robert “Bob” Fraser. They initially lived on Nelson Street and moved to Highland Drive in June, 1949. She is survived by her son, Brent (Beverly); granddaughter, Kimberly (Kent) Walsh; grandson, Brian; great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Rhiannon, Blake, Olivia and Benjamin, who referred to her as Me’Me’; sister, Agnes (Lubin) LeBlanc, Halifax; brother, Wilbert (Jean) DeCoste, West Arichat; sisters-in-law: Dorothy MacDougall, New Glasgow; Doreen Fraser, Lethbridge, Alberta; brother-in-law, William Ross, New Glasgow; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Alvina DeCoste, her husband Bob, sisters: Evangeline (James) Avery; Margaret (Gustave) Landry; Jeanette (Francis) Hubert; Bernadette Ross; and Rita in infancy; brothers: Bernie (Agnes) DeCoste and Colin DeCoste. She was a member of the 55 Plus Seniors Club and Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. Visitation 7-9 pm Sunday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral mass 11 am Monday in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
