Judy Yvonne Cochrane (nee Brown)

Judy Yvonne Cochrane (nee Brown)

Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Judy Cochrane, age 61. In her professional life as a nurse and counsellor — and in her personal life as a wife, mother and grandmother — Judy brought healing, love and compassion to those around her. She loved nothing more than a good meal with her family. Her gravy would make you weak in the knees. She swore the secret ingredient was love. Judy was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments. She leaves to mourn her husband of 40 years Bill, her daughter Kerrie (Mark Bragg), her sons: Stephen and David (Amy Wyse); and her grandchildren: Jesse Claire Bragg, Billy Cochrane and Owen Maggs. Judy is predeceased by her father Jesse Brown of Port au Bras. She also leaves to mourn her mother Melinda Abbott (Chesley); brothers: Don (Janet), Len (Christine), and Ern (Marian Glavine); sisters: Sharon and Barb; also a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and the entire Cochrane clan. The family would like to thank the staff at the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, the staff at the Miller Centre’s Palliative Care Unit, and care attendant Jeanie Mugford. A very special thank you to the Fish and Potatoes Crowd for a lifetime of friendship, to the Book Group for their compassion and company and to nurse Marie Dymond, who helped our retired nurse through her final shift. The family will be eternally grateful to Uncle Don, who was his big sister’s stalwart companion in her final days. Visitation will take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home at 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 9, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 111 Richard Nolan Drive, Mount Pearl at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Judy will be laid to rest at the Kenmount Road Anglican Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted but donations in Judy’s name are strongly encouraged to the AC Hunter Children’s Library so little boys and girls can curl up with a good book.
