Peacefully at the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Monday, July 8, 2013, of Margaret Mae Matthews, of Alberton and formerly of Elmsdale, age 93 years. Beloved wife of the late Vernon Matthews. Born in Elmsdale on Feb. 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie (nee Smith) Barnett. She is survived by her daughter Bev and her husband Fred McElhiney of Alberton, Gerry of Alberton and Charles and his wife Darlene of Summerside. Grandmother to Tammy Fraser, Tanya Ramsay, Twyla Dawn MacLean, Troy Matthews, Tiffany Matthews and Trevor Matthews. Great-grandmother to Curkland Fraser, Courtney MacWilliams, Jerika Ramsay, Nathan Ramsay, Tannor MacLean, Morgan MacLean, Taya Matthews and Taylor Matthews. She is also survived by sisters, Florence Adams of Alberton and Lila (Russell) Laughlin of Summerside. Sister-in-law of Mable Barnett of Alberton. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Ralph, William, Hilton, Gladys Kinch, Dorothy Adams and Ida Wells. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Wednesday morning, July 10, 2013, from the Elmsdale United Church, for funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
