It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rhona Leonard (nee Gallant) announce her sudden passing on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at her residence four days short of her 82nd birthday. Leaving to mourn with very fond and loving memories: her brother Cyril Gallant (Betty), Nova Scotia, niece Cathy Halbot (Alvin Blanchard), Gillams, sisters-in-law: Vinnie Gallant, Benoit’s Cove, Iris Gallant, Nova Scotia, Kathleen Wells, Corner Brook, brothers-in-law: John Leonard, Thomas Leonard (Edie) and Patrick Leonard, all residing in Corner Brook, special nieces and nephews, many longtime friends and neighbors, especially Sandra and Thomas Anstey, special homecare workers: Kim Alyward and Catherine Sheppard. She was predeceased by her husband James, 2004, sisters Leona Gallant, Rita Barriault, Marie Eldridge, Mary Duffney, Regina Halbot, Anita White and Yvonne Samms, brothers: Joseph and Frederick Gallant, and parents Alonzo and Jane Gallant. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Saturday, 7-9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. Cremation to take place on Monday. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 16th at 10:30 A.M. from Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Benoit’s Cove with Father Maurice O’Quinn officiating. The interment will follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish or to the charity of one’s choice.
