BUCKLEY, RITA PATRICIA (SULLIVAN) - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Rita Patricia Bernadette Buckley which occurred on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born 1931 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Russell) Sullivan. Rita worked for the Telegraph Journal for many years and also worked for Robins Drug Store. She was a TOPS member for 35 years and enjoyed bowling, knitting and crocheting. Rita will be greatly missed by her daughters, Diane Morton (Stephen), Lynn Grass (Jim), Elaine Wilson (Arliss) and Pamela Buckley, all of Saint John; brother, Frank Sullivan of Saint John; sisters, Teresa Thibodeau (Emile) of Richibucto Village and Rosemary Shannon (Jim) of Saint John; sisters-in-law, Mary L. Sullivan, Mary C. Sullivan, Dorothy Hickey, Jean Zmboukis (Addie), Anne Marie Murray and Mary Chamberlain; brother-in-law, Pat Buckley (Helen); grandchildren, Lisa and Meghan Morton, Allison and Liam Grass and Michael and Emily Wilson; special niece, Audrey Sullivan; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by her husband, William James Buckley; brothers, Gerald, Clarence and Norman Sullivan; sisters-in-law, Rita Kelly, Marjorie Sullivan, Theresa McCaffrey and Lillian Hickey; brothers-in-law, Michael McCaffrey, Leo Hickey, Charles Hickey, Ossie Chamberlain and Ben Murray.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Saturday, July 13 from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Joachim's Catholic Church on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:00 am, followed by an interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
