Ivan Edmondson

EDMONDSON, IVAN - The family of Ivan Dale Edmondson sadly announces his sudden passing at home on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Ivan was born at Burtt's Corner, NB on June 19, 1945, the son of the late Earl and Annie (Sheppard) Edmondson. He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Wills); daughter, Catherine of Ottawa; and three grandchildren, Alan who resides with Ivan and Sheila, Hollie of St. Stephen and Maxine of Ottawa. He is also survived by his sister, Blanche Brewer, her husband, John and their children, Bradley Brewer, Betty Brewer (Beryl), Kelli Henderson (Doug) and Trent Brewer. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Nicole Brewer, Mychel and Daniel Henderson, Ricky and David Brewer. He was predeceased by a nephew, Richard. Ivan was a finish carpenter and most recently in semi-retirement worked for Bluff Hill Manufacturing. In the early days he was a tire salesman for City Tire and worked as a parts manager at Sutherland Motors for a period of time. His great love was carpentry and in the later years he did fine cabinetry for a number of local building construction companies and also had some dedicated private customers over the years. The cabinetry items found in his home and in those of others is a testament to his skills. They will be a lasting treasure for those who appreciate such items and his attention to detail. He was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed history, military and car books. He was fond of old people, children in general and was fond of gardening. He had a soft heart for animals, even the wild outdoor variety that some people shunned. A generally quiet person he was very happy when working with wood and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His presence is missed already but he is now in God's keeping.
He was an Anglican by faith and belonged to the Parish of Bright, All Saints Church, Crock's Point where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 beginning at 2:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm, which will be conducted by Archdeacon John T. Sharpe. A reception will be held in the church hall below the church following the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parish of Bright, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Fredericton SPCA or caT-rESCUE-maRITIMES (ca-r-ma) of Fredericton.
