Marie Anna Poirier, age 93 of Southfield, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Providence Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Marie was the daughter of the late Delphin and Rachael (Bruce) Poirier. She was a former member of St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay.
Marie trained in Montreal and worked as an R.N. in downtown Detroit for many years.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her siblings.
Marie’s niece, Denise Poirier had a memorial service on June 21, 2013 in Southfield, Michigan. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay, followed by interment in the parish cemetery with Fr. Leo Boone officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
