James (Jimmy) Patrick Dunne

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Friday, July 19, 2013, James (Jimmy) Patrick Dunne of Witless Bay, aged 81 years in the presence of his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Anne; sisters Dot (John, deceased) O’ Flaherty, Ag (John, deceased) O’ Keefe, Nellie (Edward, deceased) Morgan, and brothers Ronald (Rose Mary), Eddie (Rita), Willie (Mary, deceased) and Harold (Mary, deceased). Leaving to mourn his sister Kay (Bruce, deceased) in Vancouver, BC and special niece/primary care-giver Tina (Keith) Frampton. Also leaving to mourn special nephews: Barry (Colleen), Ron, Cleve (Ann-Marie), Daryl (Charles), Blair (Christa) and Terry; great-nephew Barry (Christina) Tobin; niece Judy (Howard) O’Brien; great-niece Roseanne (David) Cahill. Over 40 years ago not only did Witless Bay and “the pond” become his home but we became his “children”. Also a large circle of other nieces, nephews, close relatives, family and friends. Special friends: Joe Ryan, Gord Crane, Dougie Chafe, Bill Williams, Pat Harte and Pat Murphy. James was a veteran in the Korean War where he served for 3 years as a Para-trooper Medic and earned several medals for his time served. Special thanks to all the nursing staff on VP2 South at the DVA Veteran’s Pavilion, Social Worker Angela Moyse and Dr. Roger Butler for their kindness and support over the last few months. Thank-you to Dr. Wade Mercer at Bay Bulls Medical Practice for the excellent care he gave over the years – your expertise and professionalism will never be forgotten. And thank-you to the nursing staff at St. Clare’s 4 West and Dr. Hiscock’s Medicine Team.
Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls. Visitation hours on Saturday, July 20 from 6-9 p.m. and Sunday, July 21, from 2-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Witless Bay. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Cemetery, Witless Bay. Jimmy was a lover of the outdoors and was known for his kind spirit and gentle personality. Donations can be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Center. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
