HICKEY, GERALDINE MAY - Geraldine M. Hickey of Temperance Vale, NB passed away July 20, 2013 at Upper River Valley Hospital. Born at East Waterville, York Co., NB in 1924, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Maggie (Tapley) MacFarlane. She was a member of the Temperance Vale United Pentecostal Church. Geraldine is survived by two daughters, Louise Collicott, Canterbury, NB and Muriel Stairs, Nackawic, NB; two sons, Arnold Hickey (Charlotte), Temperance Vale, NB and Merle Hickey (Diane), Oshawa, ON; a daughter-in-law, Carol Trail (Alton), East Newbridge, NB; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lena Bragdon, Ontario; two brothers, Earl MacFarlane, Woodstock, NB and John MacFarlane (Sadie), Temperance Vale, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Hickey; a son, Ronald Hickey; a granddaughter, Michelle Louise Stairs; two sons-in-law, Lloyd Collicott and Alton Stairs; five sisters, Rowena Tapley, Bertha Bates, Ina Nason, Marclean Trail-Beallie and Vena Morecroft; two brothers, Barry MacFarlane and Milton MacFarlane.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Terry Brewer officiating. A reception will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Temperance Vale Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Larry Collicott, Duane Collicott, Mike Hickey, Clayton Stairs, Jeff Arsenault and nephew, Mike MacFarlane. Honourary pallbearers will be Eugene and Dolores Stairs.
