The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on July 21, 2013, of Roland "Comillus" Gallant of Summerside, aged 76 years. Comillus was born on April 5, 1937, in Duvar to his late parents, Rufus and Irene (nee Dunn) Gallant. Beloved husband of the late Ruth (nee Finnan) Gallant. Loving father of Mike "Pinky" (Patricia) of Summerside, Pat (Peggy) of Saint John, N.B., Joe of Summerside, Darren (Tera Carslon) of Edmonton, AB., Terry of Summerside, Kenny (Tracie) of Summerside and Samantha Gallant of Moncton, NB. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Jennifer, Bradley, Brett, Alex, Melissa, Megan, Jamal, Brittanie, Sasha, Lucas, Kennedy and great-grandson Jack. Survived by his sister Laurinda Myers of Miscouche, sisters-in-law Patrica Pineau, Pauline Finnan, Alitha Richard of Scarborough, ON., and brother-in-law Albert Finnan of Hamilton, ON. Besides his parents, Comillus was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy at birth and by his son, Jimmy in infancy, his daughter-in-law Shelly, his sisters Millicent Jeffrey and Regrata O'Brien, his brother Ralph Gallant, his brothers-in-law Russell Jeffrey, Eddie Myers, Jarvis O'Brien and Aubin Richard and his sister-in-law Amelia Gallant. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Wednesday, July 24, then to the St. Paul’s Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 2 p.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Tuesday evening only, 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Comillus's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Summerside Boys and Girls Club would be greatly appreciated.
