She married Archie ‘Bear Cat’ Hannigan who was the only love of her life. They raised five children together and she was a very devoted mother. They enjoyed camping in Margaree. She worked at Jerome’s 3K’s in New Waterford and the Chicken Chalet in Sydney. Theresa even worked in Boston, Mass., for a period of time. She loved music and enjoyed dance and the odd drink of gin with her brother Howie playing guitar and singing. She also enjoyed playing cards and loved to win the money pot. She was an avid baker and at times, wore bloomers on her head while in the kitchen.
Theresa is survived by a daughter, Valerie (Red) Cormier; sons Francie ‘Cub’ Hannigan, George (Rebecca) Hannigan; brothers Charlie (Tootsie) MacLeod, Joseph ‘Josie’ MacLeod; sister Agnes ‘Aggie’ (MacLeod) Chaisson; grandchildren, Kevin, Cara, Ina, Ashley, Mary Theresa, Kristen; great-grandchildren, Jordon, Dawson, Callie, Hunter, Gia.

She loved her family the most and was a devout Catholic. She spent her final years living at Seaview Manor in Glace Bay. She loved life and never complained about anything and never had a bad word to say about anyone.
There will be no visitation. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, River Ryan, with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard’s Parish Hall on Convent Street.
